Kutubaddi: - RAW's agent is suspicious.

Kutubaddi: - Me and my father - grandfather is unknown but we are descendants of Emperor Ashoka and King Sher Shah.

Kutubaddi: - I am the 29th descendant of Emperor Ashoka and the ninth descendant of King Sher Shah. The capital of Emperor Ashoka was Patna in Bihar, our home was in Patna. Later Pathans arrived in India from Afghanistan. They started living in Patna, Bihar and got married to our former men. This is how we became the Maurya dynasty of Emperor Ashoka and the Afghan Pathan dynasty of Sher Shah. But for political reasons we came to Mymensingh from Patna in 1947.
On hearing this, Jamal said, "Is there any proof that you are their descendant?"
Kutubaddi was startled and said, "What is the profit of you if I am not their descendant?"
Jamal: - No.
Kutubaddi: - If I am their descendant, what harm do you have?
Jamal: - No.
Kutubaddi: - Then don't talk about this anymore.
I laughed and said, "Then you are a genuine Indian. You should fight for Bangladesh (East Pakistan)."
Kutubaddi: - I used to. But I have sided with Pakistan for religious reasons.
I: - Religion has nothing to do with the war between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The supporters of the Pak army are spreading it mainly to stop the war. And even though West Pakistanis talk about religion, they do not practice religion completely.
Hearing this, Kutubaddi looked at me with wide eyes and said, "Are you a freedom fighter?"
Hearing this, Jamal winked at me. I realized, I have to use tactics like Jamal now. So despite being a supporter of the liberation war and willing to participate in the liberation war, I said, "No, I am not a freedom fighter."
Qutbuddin then breathed a sigh of relief and said, "We have taken an initiative for unity between East Pakistan and West Pakistan. Because, now unity is more important than war. Through unity we will protect the integrity of Pakistan."

Kutubaddi: - We have also made arrangements for Sheikh Mujib. We will make Sheikh Mujib the Chief Minister of East Pakistan by protecting the integrity of Pakistan through unity. And we will form an all-party government with Taj Uddin, Syed Nazrul and Kamaruzzaman bhai. Now if we are united then Sheikh Mujib will be released by Yahya Khan and we will welcome Sheikh Mujib at the airport with respect. The respect that we will give to Sheikh Mujib, Indira Gandhi will never give that respect. It will never happen that after the country becomes independent, Sheikh Mujib will travel to India and Indira Gandhi will bow to Sheikh Mujib saying "Dada Namaskar". On the contrary, the respect we will give to Sheikh Mujib has not been given to any politician of East Pakistan yet.
Jamal smiled a little and said, "How did you suddenly get so much respect for Bangabandhu?"
Kutubaddi: - Due to the political situation, we are now willing to form a consensus government. That is why we want to form an all-party government with Sheikh Mujib. However, we Razakars are also making exceptional preparations for the war.
On hearing this, Jamal became very frightened and said, "What an exceptional preparation you are making."
Kutubaddi: - But we, the Razakars of Mymensingh, are not all making exceptional preparations. Some of the leading locals are preparing for this. Like I go to the gym of the Muslim Institute every morning and afternoon to exercise. As a result, my body structure has become stronger and better. However, we have also arranged special food from the Pak army. Last week I was given ten kg of ghee from a Pak army camp. I am cooking and eating food separately with this ghee at home. কুতুবদ্দি :- র'এর এজেন্ট সন্দেহে।
আমরা অবাক হয়ে একে অপরের দিকে তাকালাম।
কুতুবদ্দিকে আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম, " কাজলকে র' এর এজেন্ট সন্দেহ করার কারণ কী?"
কুতুবদ্দি :- কয়েকদিন আগে যশোরের বেনাপোলে কয়েকটা পাঁঠা চোরকে ধরা হয়েছিল। এদের কাজ হচ্ছে কালীপুজোর সময় পূর্ব পাকিস্তান থেকে পাঁঠা চুরি করে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে বিক্রি করা। পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের ঐ পাঁঠাগুলোকে কালীপুজোতে বলি দেয়া হয়। এবং অফ সিজনেও কলকাতার কালীঘাটেও পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের পাঁঠা বলি দেয়া হয়। কিন্তু ইদানিং ওরা কালীপুজোর সময় ছাড়াও পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের পাঁঠা চুরি করা শুরু করেছে। কিন্তু ব্যাপক জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে জানা হয়েছে , মূলত ওরা ছিল র'এর এজেন্ট। পাঁঠা চোরের ছদ্মবেশে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের অভ্যন্তরীণ রাজনৈতিক সমস্যাকে আরো উষ্কে দেয়াই ওদের মিশন।
বিশেষ করে যারা ১৯৪৭ সালে পূর্ব পাকিস্তান থেকে ভারতে চলে গিয়েছিল, ওরাই র'এর এজেন্ট হয়ে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের মানুষকে পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের বিরুদ্ধে লেলিয়ে দিচ্ছে। আর এতে ইন্ধন দিচ্ছে ইন্দিরা গান্ধি।
বিষয়টা অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হওয়ার কারণে বেনাপোল থেকে টেলিফোনে জানানো হয় ঢাকাতে। আর ঢাকা থেকে টেলিফোনে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের সকল প্রতিনিধিদেরকে জানানো হয়েছে। তাই কামারুজ্জামান ভাইও টেলিফোনের মাধ্যমে জেনেছেন। এই কারণে তিনি ময়মনসিংহ শহরে পাক বাহিনীর পক্ষে সক্রিয় হয়েছেন। আজ স্বদেশি বাজারের মিটিংয়ে জমায়েত হওয়ার পর মিটিং শেষ না করেই কাজল চলে এসেছিল। তাই র'এর এজেন্ট সন্দেহে কাজলের পিছু নিয়েছি।
আমি :- ইন্দিরা গান্ধি আবার ইন্ধন দিচ্ছেন কখন ?
কুতুবদ্দি :- পন্ডিত নেহেরু যতটুকু ডিফেন্সিভ রাজনীতিক ছিলেন,ততটুকুই অফেন্সিভ রাজনীতিক ইন্দিরা গান্ধি। পণ্ডিত নেহেরু প্রধানমন্ত্রী অবস্থায় পাকিস্তান, চীন আর মিয়ানমারের সঙ্গে সুসম্পর্ক বজায় রেখেছিলেন। কিন্তু এখন ইন্দিরা গান্ধি পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের সঙ্গে কুলাতে না পেরে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের মধ্যে যুদ্ধ লাগাচ্ছে। মূলত এটা করে পাকিস্তানি আর বাঙালি ভাইদের মধ্যে মারামারি, খুনাখুনি আর যুদ্ধ লাগিয়ে দিল্লিতে বসে মজা লুটার জন্য। কাশ্মিরের দ্বন্দ্বের উশুল পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের সঙ্গে মিটাচ্ছে। পূর্ব পাকিস্তানিদেরকে পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানিদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে লাগিয়ে দিয়ে ইন্দিরা গান্ধি তখন তামাশা দেখবে। আর ইন্দিরা গান্ধির ইন্ধনে প্রভাবিত হচ্ছে অখ্যাত বাপ - দাদার ছেলেরা।
আমি :- আপনি কোন লোকদেরকে অখ্যাত বলছেন ?
কুতুবদ্দি :- যারা মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ করতে চাচ্ছে। যেমন :- টাঙ্গাইলের কাদের সিদ্দিকীর বাপ - দাদার তেমন পরিচিতি নাই, অর্থাৎ অখ্যাত। এবং সে মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ করছে। আবার টাঙ্গাইলের আরেক লোক বায়েজিদ খান পন্নি মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ করছেনা। কেননা, পন্নির বাপ - দাদারা জমিদার। কাদের সিদ্দিকীর চৌদ্দ পুরুষের মধ্যে কোন রাজা - জমিদার আছে ? রাজা - জমিদার ত বটেই, পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের এলিট শ্রেণীর কে মুক্তিযুদ্ধ করবে ? এমনটা সারা দেশেই হচ্ছে।
আমি :- ভারতবর্ষে রাজা - জমিদাররা বিভিন্ন শাসকের তাবেদারি করেছে। এই ধারাবাহিকতায় বর্তমানেও রাজা - জমিদারদের বংশধররা পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের তাবেদারি করছে। তেমনি এলিট শ্রেণীর অনেকেই পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের তাবেদারি করছে। রাজা - জমিদারদের বাপ - দাদারাও ত এক সময় অখ্যাত ছিলেন। পরে জমিদারি ক্রয় করে বিখ্যাত হয়েছেন। আর পাকিস্তানিদের দ্বারা সাধারণ জনগণ অত্যাচারিত ও শোষিত হওয়ার কারণেই যুদ্ধ করছে। আপনি ত রাজাকার, আপনার বাপ - দাদাও ত অখ্যাত।
কুতুবদ্দি :- আমি ও আমার বাপ - দাদা অখ্যাত হলেও আমরা সম্রাট অশোক আর বাদশা শের শাহর বংশধর।
আমি :- তাহলে আপনি বিহারি ক্যাম্পে থাকেন কেন ?
কুতুবদ্দি :- আমি সম্রাট অশোকের ঊনত্রিশ তম এবং বাদশা শের শাহর নবম বংশধর। সম্রাট অশোকের রাজধানী ছিল বিহারের পাটনায়, পাটনাতেই আমাদের বাড়ি ছিল। পরে আফগানিস্তান থেকে পাঠানদের আগমন ঘটে ভারতে। ওরাই বিহারের পাটনাতে বসবাস শুরু করে এবং আমাদের পূর্ব পুরুষদের সঙ্গে বিবাহ বন্ধনে আবদ্ধ হয়। এভাবেই সম্রাট অশোকের মৌর্য বংশ ও শের শাহর আফগান পাঠান বংশ মিলে আমরা হয়েছি। কিন্তু রাজনৈতিক কারণে ১৯৪৭ সালে আমরা পাটনা থেকে ময়মনসিংহে এসেছি।
এই কথা শোনে জামাল বলল, " আপনি যে ওদের বংশধর, এর কোন প্রমাণ আছে ? "
কুতুবদ্দি তখন চমকে উঠে বলল, " আমি ওদের বংশধর না হলে আপনার কোন লাভ আছে ? "
জামাল :- না।
কুতুবদ্দি :- আমি ওদের বংশধর হলে আপনার কোন ক্ষতি আছে ?
জামাল :- না।
কুতুবদ্দি :- তাহলে এই ব্যাপারে আর কথা বলবেননা।
আমি হাসতে হাসতে বললাম, " তাহলে ত আপনি খাঁটি ভারতীয়। আপনার ত উচিৎ বাংলাদেশের (পূর্ব পাকিস্তান) পক্ষে যুদ্ধ করার।"
কুতুবদ্দি :- করতাম। কিন্তু ধর্মীয় কারণে পাকিস্তানের পক্ষ নিয়েছি।
আমি :- পাকিস্তান ও বাংলাদেশের যুদ্ধে ধর্মের কোন সম্পর্ক নাই। মূলত যুদ্ধ থেকে বিরত করতেই পাক বাহিনীর সমর্থকরা এটা রটাচ্ছে। আর পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানিরা ধর্মের কথা বললেও সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধর্ম পালন করেনা।
এই কথা শোনে কুতুবদ্দি চোখ বড় বড় করে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে বলল, " আপনি কি মুক্তিযোদ্ধা ? "
এই কথা শোনে জামাল আনাকে চোখ টিপ দিল। আমি বুঝলাম, আমাকে এখন জামালের মত রণকৌশল অবলম্বন করতে হবে। তাই মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সমর্থক ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণে ইচ্ছুক হওয়া সত্ত্বেও আমি বললাম, " না, আমি মুক্তিযোদ্ধা নই। "
কুতুবদ্দি তখন স্বস্তির নিঃশ্বাস ফেলে বলল, " আমরা পূর্ব পাকিস্তান ও পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের মধ্যে একটা ঐক্যের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছি। কেননা, এখন যুদ্ধের চেয়ে ঐক্য জরুরি। ঐক্যের মাধ্যমে আমরা পাকিস্তানের অখণ্ডতা রক্ষা করব। "
আমি :- তাহলে বঙ্গবন্ধুর কী হবে ? তিনি ত বাংলাদেশের অধিকারের জন্য অনেক ত্যাগ করেছেন।
কুতুবদ্দি :- শেখ মুজিবের জন্যও আমরা ব্যাবস্থা করে রেখেছি। আমরা ঐক্যের মাধ্যমে পাকিস্তানের অখণ্ডতা রক্ষা করে শেখ মুজিবকে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বানাব। এবং তাজ উদ্দীন, সৈয়দ নজরুল ও কামারুজ্জামান ভাইদেরকে নিয়ে সর্বদলীয় সরকার গঠন করব। এখন যদি আমরা ঐক্যবদ্ধ হই তাহলে শেখ মুজিবকে ইয়াহিয়া খান মুক্তি দিবে আর আমরা বিমানবন্দরে শেখ মুজিবকে সম্মান দিয়ে বরণ করে নেব। আমরা যে সম্মানটা শেখ মুজিবকে দিব, ইন্দিরা গান্ধি সে সম্মানটা কখনই দিবেনা। এমনটা কখনই হবেনা যে, দেশ স্বাধীন হওয়ার পর শেখ মুজিব ভারতে বেড়াবেন আর ইন্দিরা গান্ধি, " দাদা নমস্কার " বলে শেখ মুজিবকে প্রণাম করবে। বরং আমরা শেখ মুজিবকে যে সম্মানটা দিব, সেটা পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের কোন রাজনীতিককে এখনো দেয়া হয়নি।
জামাল একটু মুচকি হেসে বলল, " হঠাৎ করে বঙ্গবন্ধুর প্রতি আপনাদের এত শ্রদ্ধা বাড়ল কীভাবে ? "
কুতুবদ্দি :- রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতির কারণে আমরা এখন ঐক্যমতের সরকার গঠন করতে ইচ্ছুক। এই কারণেই শেখ মুজিবকে নিয়ে আমরা সর্বদলীয় সরকার গঠন করতে চাই। তবে যুদ্ধের জন্যও আমরা রাজাকাররা ব্যতিক্রমি প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছি।
এই কথা শোনে জামাল অনেকটা আঁতকে উঠে বলল, " আপনারা কেমন ব্যতিক্রমি প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছেন। "
কুতুবদ্দি :- তবে আমরা ময়মনসিংহের রাজাকাররা সকলেই ব্যতিক্রমি প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছিনা। নেতৃত্ব স্হানীয়দের মধ্যে কয়েকজন এই প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছি। যেমন আমি প্রতিদিন সকালে ও বিকালে মুসলিম ইন্সটিটিউটের ব্যায়ামাগারে গিয়ে ব্যায়াম করি। এর ফলেই আমার শরীরের গঠনটা আরো মজবুত ও সুঠাম হয়েছে। তবে পাক বাহিনীর কাছ থেকে স্পেশাল খাবারের ব্যবস্থাও করেছি। গত সপ্তাহে আমাকে পাক বাহিনীর ক্যাম্প থেকে দশ কেজি ঘি দিয়েছে। বাসায় এই ঘি দিয়ে আলাদা করে খাবার রান্না করে খাচ্ছি। তাই আমার শরীরের শক্তিও বাড়ছে। তবে আরো স্পেশাল খাবারের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।
